A real story COP thriller and a best movie for Karthi after Madras
Plot: A thriller to locate and remove serial killer with theft, a real Tamilnadu COP story that happened in early 2000s. :
Background of real story: S R Jangid IPS was the real cop who lead this Tamilnadu COP team. The 1985 batch IPS officer led a team that arrested Oma Bawaria, leader of the Bawaria criminal tribes, and Lakshman Bawaria in Uttar Pradesh, who were involved in many crimes, including the murder of Gumudipoondi MLA K. Sudarsanam.
Analysis & Performance: Karthi definitely stands out for all his effort and work for this movie. This was one of his best movie after MADRAS. He performed well and carries the movie on his shoulder and does it well. His action scenes and expressions were pefectly fitting the movie needs. Rakul Preethi was refreshing to see in a traditional costumes all through the movie, however her role was limited only towards romance and nothing more. Others like Bose Venkat , Abhimanyu Singh all did their job to the perfection
Direction, Music & Screenplay: Cinematorgraphy needs to be mentioned. Sathyan Sorriyan nailed it. His color tones, long angle shots, chassing scenes were nail gripping and we can see that with the audiances when they start clapping particularly in a chasing sequences, the 20 mins scene before the interval shows his effort and dedication which was nail gripping. He will definitely go miles. He has long way to go. Music by Ghiran fits the thriller journey. Sevatha pulla songs stays in memory and nice meolody. Direction is perfect to the core and screenplay has been racy, it is hard to belive that this is director's second movie after sathuranga vettai. The minute details, history, detailing of issues were perfect and it shows the level of homework done by the director.
Flipside : Only flipside is the lengthy romantic track, could have trimmed, also how they get to love each other is not strong, but these minor issues can be ignored for the great effort that had been put in place.
Overall , a good thriller and stays in top 5 2017 movies
