Production: NVR Cinema
Rating : U/A
Genere : Spy Thriller
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Editor: Sreekar Prasad
Story, Screenplay, Direction: A.R. Murugadoss
Cast: Mahesh Babu, Rakul Preethi, SJ Surya, Bharath etc
Most expected film as it created huge expectation with Mahesh , A.R Murugadoss combo as bi-lingual and 100+ crore budget.
Plot: Mahesh Babu works as a call attendant on police dept to track calls based on government needs, during one instance he ignores a call which results in a problem and wanted to solve that by himself, did he solve the problem, what challenges he faced etc forms the crux of the movie.
Analysis & Performance: Mahesh Babu as always charms the movie which his looks, costumes and body language. His dialogue deliveries were perfect and it was refreshing to see he did his dubbing in tamil on his own. Other best part that needs to be credited is lip sync, usually in bilinguals lip sync would become a issue, we can see that to the perfection even with dancers in songs to the perfection which needs to be appreciated. VFx seems to be decent for the given budget. Rakul does a typical heroine comes and goes for song sequences and nothing much to complain as this is more a hero oriented subject. Now comes SJ Surya, hero character will shine and will be up only if his opponent is strong, SJ Surya was a perfect cast for a psychic role, he has nailed it to perfection, be it his hair adjustment, his looks, emotions, dialogue delivery, body language etc... he is the perfect cast for that role. The way he ran in climax scene when Mahesh chasing him, shows his acting caliber and doing justice for his role... also during interval block, when he cries and by when the tears reaching his cheeks he blows it off , you can see the facial expression changes in both those circumstances.
Music, Screenplay, Direction: re-recording has been good however songs were not to the expectation, specially in tamil version, was expecting more. However the BGM for SJ Surya seems to be too good and displays and creates fear for that character. It was intelligent by director to keep song and build the character and he did that not once but twice. The build up to SJ Surya role on why he became like this justifies it. The scenes around ladies trying to safe the people was a good thought and can hear claps from audiences.
Flipside : While first half was good, last 25 to 30 mins were little slow and it could have been avoided. Some of the typical intelligent knots of ARM was missing in this like we saw in Ramana or Dheena or Kaththi etc. Also anyone could have done the role of Bharath, not sure why Bharath was picked up for that role, he could have been used much better than just come and go.
Overall , good movie with SJ Surya rocking
My view: 3.25/5
TagLine: Spy Thriller with SJ Surya steeling the show while ARM's intelligent knots being missed in the story line
