Production: S. Aiswarya , AM Ratnam
Rating : U
Genere : Rural Action Thriller
Music: Imman
Editor: V T Vijayan
Story, Screenplay, Direction: R Paneerselvam
Cast: Vijay Sethupathi, Tanya , Bobby Simha , Pasupathi etc
Most anticipated VJS film after Vikram Vedha with full length rural background after Dharma durai
Plot: Karuppan was free going guy who lives on Jallikattu and cow for his earnings. He gets married to a high profile lady and what happens next is all showin in this 2.5 hrs of movie
Analysis & Performance: What should I say about Vijay Sethupathi, he is an acting gift to tamil movie. He is so casual in acting but it is top notch and no one could have done this role so ease and perfect other than Vijay Sethupathi. He was so good in comedy, emotional, action & romantic. The romatic and family scenes between VJS and Tanya was so good and refreshing after a long time. Dialogue delivery is so strong and he just makes everyone laugh just in that. The way he calls Anbu in various modulation is a best example. Tanya had a meaty role and she has done it to perfection and it is not a surprise as she comes from legendary lead actor Ravichandran family (grand daughter) . Her expressions were so good and justified her role and will have a good run in tamil industry, a nice find. Bobby Simha plays villan and does it neatly which comes so ease to him. Pasupathi is next to mention and he is so good in emotions, we are missing him as an actor and wish he gets a good run. Singamuthu is another one to mention as he did equally well in comedy along with VJS.
Music, Screenplay, Direction: Re-recording has been good and Imman is good in that, There was more expectation on songs but did not live to the expectations, not sure why, but the expectation was high due to hits given by Imman in the past specially with rural background. This movie had the best Jallikattu scenes after Virumbadi and it was taken to the perfection and refreshing to watch for the younger generations who would have been wondering why every one was fighting for this few months back. The emotional scenes and family scenes between VJS and Tanya were the best in the recent past after Pannaiyarum Padminiyum movie ( where it was romance with elder couple). Paneerselvam is a director to watch out for.
Flipside : The build up for Bobby was so good but breaking the ice happened just like that, could have been little more drama to that. Some of the other movie song sequences were little lengthy and could have been crisp to establish the characters. Sharath Lohitashwa could have been used in much better other than just coming and going.
Overall , refreshing movie with VJS and Tanya( suprise package) steels the show
My view: 3.5/5
TagLine: Refreshing Rural story after a long gap with VJS all the way
